Just thought I would let everyone know about my recent purchases :P

I wanted a studio for recording, gut it had to be "portable". I often record at my mates house, so I needed to be able to get everything over there to record.

I grabbed myself a macbook; I needed a laptop for school anyway, and i really love the whole mac experience :P.

Does anyone use a program that is designed to track only? Making the switch from Sonar to logic express is turning out to be quite a challenge for me. And since I am planning on mixing in Sonar anyway...was wondering if there is anysuch software someone can give me feedback on.

It might help to clarify this a little...I record on a macbook and then I do my mixing on my PC.

i have a nord lead i got at guitar center used, for $200, its pretty beat up, its missing a D key, its got a weird mathmatical equation hidden under a psychadelic sticker of a man walking in space toward a burning sun, its pretty heavy stuff. I’m working in my final project of my university that is about choral recording, which I divided in four parts:

I have been mixing on a decent Logitech 2.1 system. I know, I know that is not real practical, so I have decided to get a decent set of entry level studio monitors. I am only on a $300 dollar budget so my choices are very limited. Also, I do not have any local music shops so I cannot go demo speakers so I am really relying on online reviews and forums.

Hello, I am looking to record acoustic guitars with a set of condensers- However, I notice that the mics don't pick up much of the string attack, and most of the people I've seen playing live whose acoustic sounds I've admired have used pickups mounted in the soundhole along with micing.

Im a newbie in the recording process, ill be needing to record vocals only, and this is what I'm thinkin about buying for my home studio.

Can someone give me a opinion on this hardware list?

I've just installed Cubase VST v5 on my PC and have a problem syncing up to my Alesis HD24. The HD24 is sending MTC to the PC via a Creative 'Livedrive' front panel. Both Cubase an HD24 are running 30fps and the HD24 is running as master. Cubase will start/start/rewind/fast forward and pause from the HD24 trasport controls, but the sync seems to slip.

I recently tried a used layla 20 unit with my band. We like the sound quality. However, I am having problems with the software and its interaction with Layla and could use some help. I have experience with Self-contained hard disk recording units, but not PC based recording.
