Mixers - Roland? Soundcraft? Mackie?
Hi everyone.
I'm thinking of buying a bigger mixer, but something within budget (hence posting here).
Now, I've come across a few offers of second-hand mixers, among which the following:
- Roland M16E
- Soundcraft Folio SX
- Mackie 1604 VLZ Pro
Is there one you would suggest, or are the ones where you would tell me to forget about them?

Is Anyone Running their DAW in 64 bit?
I'm not sure what software supports it, but 2 I'm looking at do; Cubase 3 SX and Sonar 5.
I'm doing a new computer build and am trying to decide whether to go with Windows XP x64. I'm nervous about drivers. The computer will be strictly for recording.

Bands and Appetites
Why do bands always show up hungry for sessions? You would think they would eat before showing up. They knew the session was that day and at that time. Does anyone else find this to be a common problem? This should definitely be added for those preparing to record pamphlets. :?

Radio Broadcast-String Quartet and a last minute request
Yesterday I did a string quartet live broadcast/2 track recording for a classical radio station near here. I used a pair of AKG Blue Line Cardioid microphones in a coincident-pair arrangement. I placed the microphones about 8 feet in front of the quartet and about chest high. The recording and broadcast came off very well*.
Samson C-Valve versus PreSonus TUBEPre
Looking for a good but inexpensive microphone preamp for both acoustic steel and nylon guitar as well as vocals, just for home recording. It seems that everyone gives PreSonus good reviews, though there tube needs frequent replacement. Just wondering what people think about the Samson C-valve. Technically, it seems to do everything the PreSonus does, but it also sports S/PDIF outputs.

Audio files to disc question.
I have been working with pro tools for a couple of years and have been progressing reasonably well. Finally starting to get the hang of digital editing(old school). Now, how do I burn to my DVD burner the audio files so my friend can upload them into his system as a session to work with.(same pro tools setup).

RME DIGI9636 vs. . HDSP9652 vs. . others?
Hello. I just got my Fostex D2424LV sold, and will now put up a PC-based recording system. What I was planning to do is go with ADA8000 to an ADAT PCI soundcard, and expand with another ADA8000 or later switch to FireWire pre's.

I called a guy about a board. He didn't have what I was looking for.
But, he say's "I have a refurbished Yamaha PM-2000 (just got it back), I'm tryng to sell for $4500"
Now I would like to hear what some of you think of this board.
He also said "it sounds just as good as an API" (in his opinion)
