I'm in the process of putting my home studio together, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting two-way communication between my Mackie 24*8 bus mixing board, and a Tascam US-16x08.
I have limited experience with mixing boards, but a friend sold me the Mackie for "an offer I couldn't refuse".

I have no experience with this, so don't kill the messenger. But I won't say I'm not intrigued.

I've done a ton of organizing and re-mapping, re-structuring, assigning of threads and categories. How do you like the general layout of the forums now? Is it easier to navigate or is it too busy?

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Ok, for the first time in my 15 years of producing audio, I have done what I hoped I would never do. I have bought an item that in no way I need or have any practical use for. It just looks cool, is inexpensive, and I know it's pro quality. What is it? A Focusrite ISA Two. I had an ISA 428 some years ago but I sold it when I moved to mastering gear.

Lately, I have been trying to learn more about tape. I grew up listening to albums tracked to tape, but have only worked professionally in the DAW environment.

There is a craze with tape plugins in the last several years - including Universal Audios Officially endorsed Studer A800 mkIII plugin , as well as u-he Satin and Slate's Virtual Tape Machines.

So I need an audio interface and the Tascam preamps have been recommended to me.
My local music store carries the Tascam US-16X08 with the newer HDDA (Hi-Def Discrete Architecture) preamps for $319, while another store has the older US-1800 on sale for $275, with older preamps.

I'm a regular poster in the songwriting/mix section of recording.org but today I come with a different question!

We come from everywhere with all kinds of influences.
Why not discussing what we don't like to hear and why we don't like it.

For one, I don't like long bending in vocal performances, I feel they are out of tune too long for my tastes and I also don't really like fast vibrato sounding like a sheep ! ;)
