best monitors for dance/electronic
Forums
I am thinking of getting some new monitors to replace my Genelec 1029+sub and I am looking for suggestions.
My room is 11Wx12L x10H and i have a moderate amount of bass trapping ie: 4inch rockwool in the corners where it allows.
I like the Genelecs to a certain extent but the bass is always boomy and wooly sounding.
cheers
chris

dbx compressor questions
Forums
I just bought a dbx 266XL compressor/gate to use when recording kick, snare, and vocals. Can someone explain the basics of the controls and what they each do? Does anyone have any "presets" that I should try and then tweak from there? Thanks.

Old unbalanced Sennheiser MKH. Asking for trouble?
Forums
Hi all,
I'm wondering about the old Sennheiser MKH-110 (omni). On paper it has an astonishing bass reponse, and I've heard it on some nature recordings and it appears to sound pretty good (but not as good as MKH20 in the same setting).

Cable & Cord Mess
Forums
The one thing I am always amazed by is when I see pictures of studios is the lack of cables and cords. I wonder if it is all cleaned up and or moved into strategic positioning in order for the camera to avoid the mess just to look good.

Not Always What They Start Out As...
Forums
The other evening, I set up a 6 mic arrangement to record what was originally set up to be a 1.5 hour concert for a nationally acclaimed and recognized HS honors orchestra...no problem so far.

DIY monitor controller
Forums
i've been looking at the PreSonus central station, and it has many things that i would love to have, but for the money it seems like a rip off. I was wondering if it would be possible to build a rackmount unit that could control volume for 2 sets of monitors (at different times) and have stereo outs for two seperate headphone amps?
