Ok, a not quite hypothetical situation...

I have a 20'x30' room and $20,000 to build a Pre-production/Project/Writing studio.

What kind of stuff would you recommend?

I have some ideas and everything, but the more ideas I can get to research, etc. the better off I'll be, so...

I am farly new to the recording world and am building a new pc. I just wanted to know if this setup would work well. I am going to be running Sonar 4 with some plugins and a large track count cuz i will be doing multitrack recording with my band. I will also most likely be using a PreSonus firepod for an audio interface. Here is what i was looking at getting:

Just wondering if anyobdy has any wild stories about things that happened to you while recording, mixing, etc. You know, those ones that start, "I remember this one time..."

I have my mic hooked up through my mixer, and my mixer is connected to my computer. I have tried diff volumes, and right now I have gotten the best sound from turning the main vol almost all the way down and turning the mic volume all the way up. I have gotten a pretty good quality from that and if you have any better suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

hello everybody, i just have a question about the bass slide/glide sample that producers use for rnb tracks. anybody know how they make it sound like that?

hi there, planning to buy my home studio monitors soon, and I've been thinking about those two. In my country I can get the M-Audio's in $430 and the KRK's in $500. so any opinions?

I got an AKG C-34 today (although I might have to return it as the pattern box is faulty) and I'm absolutely gob-smacked by it. I expected it to be good, but it's really wonderful. Another thing is that the diaphragms are in perfect condition (one thing that I'm always concerned about with old mics). I expected this to sound like old 451s, but the sound is very different.

Ok, guys, I finally popped for a M-Audio MobilePre USB, but I'm having issues with the other sound card.

I want to record through the MobilePre, and monitor through the other sound card, and Sound Forge and Cool Edit Pro are both being grouchy.
