Overhead choice for LOUD or LIVE performance drummers?

Hi everyone,

Over the years I've gradually taken on the job of *the guy who records stuff* in the three bands I play in.
My setup is focused on staying portable and leaning towards fast/easy to setup and break down, with all of my mics plugging into a Zoom Livetrak L-20. I don't own any ribbons or tube mics, and unlikely to in the short term.

Help isolating recorded noises and whispers when asleep

Long story short, I keep hearing sh*t in my house, it sounds like people talking and I hear running around etc. We have cameras in our house, but they keep magically looking very grainy, I used voice amplifier but magically again...when I suspect anything..it sounds like my ear is blown off when listening...so I recorded our cameras from my phone on certain nights.

Recording Classical Instruments with Ribbons and Condensers? Possible?

Hi Recording.org community! I wanted to reach out to your collective wisdom! Is it possible/recommended to record classical instruments (I am a professional flutist) with both ribbons and condensers? I have seen this in a couple of places eg. on the Royer website they have a recording of a flutist with a SF-24 and 2 RODE NT-6 omnis flanking on a stereo bar.

Xeon or i7

Providing that it is apples to apples as in same # of core, CPU speed, which chip would perform better for home recording? No sure but is one better for serial and or parallel processing? I will be using Cake walk, not sure of what amp Sim or other plugins outside of the plugg-ins that come with cakewalk that I will be choosing.
