POP, POP, POP..Please stop?
Forums
I live in an older apartment. However, when my refridgerator turns on/off it causes a pop noise in my monitors. I don't think the outlets are grounded and it would take Major work to rewire the apartment. Are there any quick fixes? I've tried surge protectors etc. Should I be more concerned with the outlet the Refridgerator is plugged into or the outlets my gear is plugged into?

Solder Sucks!
Forums
Yep, it's true. Of course you don't believe it. Hearing the sound difference be so like what I've heard on some of the best recordings I've found, I suspect this may be a closely guarded secret of some producers, but that's a guess. Just try making one cable that brings sound into or out of an external box, or from a synth to the in of your recorder using no solder. Voila..

MIDI CLOCK/MTC help please
Forums
Which one of you brilliant MIDI geeks/gurus knows the answer to this?
The setup - keyboard with internal sequencer, mac running Digital Performer, Midi Express XT, ADATs with BRC, and me with a shot of single malt standing there with too many manuals scratching my head.

What about building a dbx Channel Strip mixer ?
Forums
I was wandering... if it's possible to make a "console" from those dbx Channel Strips? I could have a whole bunch of those together... let's say, 16 of those... around $8000... that would be 16 channels with EQ and compressor, 96k digital outs... doesn't sound THAT bad to me... don't get me wrong... I don't even have all that money... that's just a thought... is this a ridiculous thought?

MixFest 2001 Updates
Forums
A few things to review for the MixFest.
Everyone needs to pick a song to mix, sign up under that song name, and make contact with the pointman for that particular song. There can be more than 10 mixers per song. If 18 people want to mix one song, then let them.

Pro Tools on Mix Fest ?
Forums
Mixerman : I'm gonna mix "She's the Man "
Sometimes I use to change some sounds of the drums in the mix, with my Pro Stools (kick, snare mainly ), if I decide that this will add some sauce to the mix .
The question is : can we, for example, change the sound of the snare,bd, toms, etc, with Sound Replace,or similar, if we like to ?

alright. I'm in the researching stage of finding the gear that I'm going to need to build a pretty basic (but professional enough) PC setup.
