ok so i started recording with my 16 track multitrack recorder and am loving in, but now i wanna step into the computer age. i wonder if its possible to get a laptop in the 350-450 range that will have ample power for what I'm looking for.

Thank you for letting me post this question without a registration process. I am new to outside recording (but not studio recording) and wondered if a windshield for the Tascam DR-100 would be effective - Rycote make one as do Redhead windscreens, and maybe there are others as well.

I've read that win7 64 Window Media Center (WMC) is a resource hog. Can drain up to 50%. Also read that deactivating the sync is what to do. Do you have yours removed, disabled, what?

We started the mixing on an SSL console, but discovered that ITB (in-the-box) mixing sounded much better after comparison. I mean, many degrees better.

I'm new to the recording world. I need a decent interface to record a full band, (guitar,bass,drums,etc) In the 300-400 dollar price range. Can anyone help? Also i have a mxl 990 what other mics should i be recording my guitars with?
