Covering Phoenix's "1901"
Forums
Hey guys, I'm fairly new on mixing and I've been trying to emulate the sound of Phoenix's "1901." Here's what I have so far.

Second set of monitors
Forums
I've been waiting to find just the right setup for my needs. I wanted a second set, mainly for tracking. I have bought a set of Tannoy System 8 nearfields for just such work. I am looking forward to hearing them. I have heard the big brothers of these and I have always loved the detail and focus of a concentric speaker setup.

Audio Interfaces, Preamps, and Mixers. I NEED ANSWERS!
Forums
Okay, so I'm sort of a newbie to recording. I have a background in live sound, and understand the basics and more. But as I begin to slowly assemble a "studio" of sorts, I've come across a question that I, regardless of hours worth of research, still cannot draw a clear answer to.
Licensing questions

I'm considering releasing a cover song. I'm not sampling any previously recorded audio; I'm performing my own version of the song. However, I'm only covering the chorus, and adding my own verses. Is this still technically considered a cover? I know about licensing covers through Harry Fox, etc. but I'm not sure if this works the same way.

The Green Thing

This was sent to me this morning.
Enjoy:)

Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.
The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days."

My final decision on studio setup after much research
Forums
Of course, i had the best interest for a nice Quad-Core computer, and the top of the line effects but...after much research i have found that with proper mic placement, good mics, good preamps/interface/AtoD converters and recording setup, i can make due what i have. With little more upgrade to my laptop.
From Mix to Mastering Recording into the converter

Hey guys,
Im new to the board. I am a semi experienced mix engineer. I unfortunately have to master most of my mixes. I have been getting into some new concept that I just learned about but dont know how to do it exactly.
Any input would be great.
Where did the Threads Go?
Forums
We lost two days of threads and posts. I'm trying to resolve this but its not going well. 8 hours on it now. Seems the main network in LA got hit with a malicious attack and something effected our forums during their security lockdown. bummer indeed. .
I've rebuilt the site, we're now running on our backup and stable. Time to sleep..
