So I'm getting back into recording, and I hope someday to have enough money to build a place with full capabilities. At Full Sail, we used the SSL 4000 (I'm sure I only know 25% of that boards capabilities) and I've assisted for a while on same. Watching the SSL youtube videos of the AWS 900, like

I have googled as best as I can, and most sites I come with are too technical for me. For the ones that aren't too technical, there's always a stumbling block somewhere for me to follow thru on the instructions.

I've been working with my little Duet for the past few months and have had nothing but good fortune, but I'm ready to move up to something with more channels. That being said I'm going for the RME Fireface 800 and probably the Big Knob for my monitors. I'm asking for a caution-check from whomever would like to comment as these are my thoughts.
