Hi I've had great results recording piano and classical chamber music with a Sony Hi-MD Minidisc recorder and some good binaural unpowered mics. However, the transfer rates are so slow to the computer and the whole technology just seems outdated in light of cheap flash based devices.

Any experienced tips on recording ICM? Specifically speaking-sitar, tabla, tanpura. Mic techniques, mic/preamp/compressor combinations that produced great results?

I have a ZOOM MRS-802CD and a Mackie DFX12 I am trying to record a couple song for the band I am in, my only problem is recording drums and basically trying to get it to sound as professional as possible with what I have. Of course if I have to buy more equipment I would be willing to for the sake of producing a better sound.

I am looking at getting the digital ADC for my Voicemaster Pro but I'm not sure if the ADC is better than my Digidesign 002R.

Will the ADC improve the sound, value of my VMP or should I save up for a Sebatron /Avalon?
