So I thought I was going to be able to impress you with my very first acoustic track today, and everything was going just fine... until I recorded it. :D I keep getting horrible phasing. Two mics are being used. 2 SM57's to be exact. One at body and one at upper neck. I get great tone from the body one, fat but not muddy. The neck one seems to not blend well.

I've been asked by a friend to record him for a college audition. He plays the upright bass, but also needs me to record piano and acoustic guitar.

My question is what microphone would be best for these instruments?

I have a Shure SM57...would that be sufficient? If yes, for which instrument or all of the instruments? If not, what mic would be best?

When recording, the Acoustic drum is the only one that I need a feel of power added. What should I do? A) Should I make better use of my plugins? Which ones? B) Fix the drum C) Something else.

I'm trying to do my first mixing project with a bunch of tracks I've just recorded. I recorded some bass tracks four different ways to let me choose/create the best sound later and now would love some advice.

how could i make my acoustic guitar recording sound fuller. it sounds lifless and dull.

i want to setup a rack to be used for live shows but also have things i need for recording. anyone have any tips for what should be in the rack?
