recording / gigging with acoustic electric bass
hi all
what is the best way to record an acoustic electric bass (by that i don't mean a standup bass, i mean one of those aria acoustic basses that looks like a big electric guitar, but with a pickup inside somewhere) -- go directly in to the mixer from the pickup, or do you need to DI first? or is it still best to plug it into an amp and mic the amp?
recording acoustic guitar outriggers
Some people record acoustic guitar with a X/Y (or M/S) stereo-pair plus closeup outriggers.
Any suggestions
mics (outriggers) : omni or card ?
mics: placement ?
mixing ?
phase problems ?
more links ?
... ?

acoustic guitar, MS-miking, doubled?
Greetings all, I have a question about MS techniques. I've been recording for many years but I've never experimented with this technique as I've never owned a mic with a fig-8 pattern.
I'll be recording acoustic guitar in the context of a rock band. A lot of the rhythms are up tempo, strummy, driving rhythms and work well when doubled.

Newbie - Recording Acoustic Drums - Kind of Long Post
My partner and I are in the beginning stages of creating a recording studio. While we both have recorded in several professional studios, this is our first attempt at building our own. So far, it has been a good learning experience. By the way, our budget has been somewhat limited (aren't they all)?
Active speakers for voice and acoustic instruments
I am about to buy a pair of active speakers for our rehearsal studio (18 square metres), mainly for voice and acoustic instruments to come out. (We also have drums, electric bass, sometimes guitar or keyboards but we still don't know if it would be better for all the instruments to come out of the PA speakers). I made a little research and found:
acoustic amplifiers
i had the fishman ellipse matrix blend installed into my Martin D-15, because my band will be playing shows soon.
i'm not getting a decent sound out of my Mesa trem-o-verb (w/ 4x12) like i was hoping. the Ultrasound amp I played at the store was 100% better.

Techniques for Micing Acoustic Guitar
Hey. So, I've spent the better part of an hour searching the forums, but I can't seem to find much on acoustic guitars. Am I just being slightly naive in assuming that there are really techniques for Micing acoustic guitars? Or, perhaps it's very simple and not especially noteworthy? Either way, I was just wondering what people thought.
