1968 u87, silver c414eb or other

I went over to a friend's studio that is selling a lot of older microphones. Amongst them was a 1968 u87i, an AKG c414EB (silver), and a Sony c37a. I spent two hours trying these mics along with their Microtech Gefell um92 1.s. (which blew the socks off every microphone there in terms of detail, depth, and high-end openness and gentleness - even the Sony c37a).

Mic clip other than SA 18 for AKG C414?

I have a C414 B-ULS that I've had for a while and I both another (came today) with the hope that they'd be close enough to use as a pair.e came The first one came with a SA 18/3B mic clip. The second came with an H-100 shock mount. So I thought I'd see what another clip cost - WOW - $200 and your first born male child. (Tough luck George Rogers.)

Differences between AKG C414 B-XL or AKG C414B XLII?

I'm looking at picking up one of these mics for vocals and guitar and am hoping I can get some information as to what the differences these two versions are? I looked back in the forum and couldn't find anything even though I swear RemyRAD talked about it at one point. I've got both mics at a really good price within about $5 of each other and just wondered which one I should choose.

Neumann BCM104 vs. . AKG C414

I'm trying to decide on a vocal mic for my home studio. I've used a borrowed AKG C414 for while on vocals and on acoustic instruments for the last couple of years and am about to purchase a mic of my own. I've read some on the Neumann BCM104 and I'm wondering how it compares to the AKG. I'll mostly be tracking male vocals/country music. Anyone have any input? thnx!

Difference Between AKG 414 B-XL II and AKG 414 B-XLS

Hi All,

I'm in the process of selecting a condenser mic for my home studio and the AKG 414 matches my needs and perfectly fits my budget. I've read great things on both however I'm not sure how the two series are different? Its stated that the XL II is suited for solo instruments and vocals whereas the XLS is a more universal mic. The XL II cost $100 more too...
