Hi,
I like the Avalon U5 for bass and guitar DI. I really like the smaller size of the Summit Audio TD-100, but I haven't tried one yet. I've heard the TD-100 has similar good qualities to the U5, but is slightly warmer.

what do you think?

Got an Avalon vt737dp which work great with vocals, but wanted to know if my instrument input is not malfunctionning :

I am looking to upgrade to an Avalon 737sp.
However I see it only has a mono out. And no SPDIF outs.
How will I get it to connect to my Harmonizer? The Harmonizer (Eventide) and the Lexicon FX units both need left and right inputs to have a incoming signal.

I am ready to commit up to $3000-$3500 to get a channel strip/combo that will really excel in getting the big, warm, present and defined vocal recording sound.

I already have the 4050 but am looking at getting the other 2, they are the edge of my prioce range 3K so icannot go any higher.

however i only really need 2 inputs (stereo from my triton) to go into my MAC/cubase

I am seriously considering picking up the U5 for obvious duties on bass guitar. I know it works on other instruments and keyboards, too.

For Mic'ed signals, does anyone run something like a Mackie preamp (off the insert) through the U5 to help add some color "on the way in" to the A/D?

I like to by some preamp with comp for vocal and acoustic guitar mainly because I use Vst instruments and samples for rest of instruments,so I wonder is it better have Apogee mini me which is preamp/comp and a/d converter in one place or Avalon 737sp is better choice because is tube?
My setup is 3 pc with MOTU 828mkII,MOTU 2408mkII,m-audio 2496

I have up to $3,000 to spend for an all-around mic preamp. I was thinking the Avalon 2022 or the Langevin DVC.

Am I on the right track?

I record mainly acoustic instruments and rock music.
