Mixing Bass amp with bass DI.

If you take a DI on your bass track and then proceed to amp that bass track and mix it in with the DI, what if the two tracks are out of phase, but you like the mic positioning on the amped track. I remember hearing about a plugin where you can adjust phase by the degree for a total of 360°, but let's say you don't have this and need an alternate method. What would you do?

Recording Bass Direct: Any tips?

Hi there,

I'm recording (and playing) electric bass for an album I'm working on. I'm a guitar player and have never recorded electric bass before. I've had good success Micing an acoustic bass but this is all new to me.

I've asked around and the general consensus is that recording direct is the way to go with my set-up (not having a bass amp and living in a townhouse). :)

Bass Direct into the Board...

I've recorded with several bands, using many methods. The band I am with now is hardcore/melodic trash style music and i use a Custom F Bass 5 stringer. My rig is an Ampeg SVT PRO 4 which has been nothing but amazing on every recording. Ampeg 810E Behringercompressor just with clight compression as to not eat the basses tone.

Compression 101 (Bass DI, Vocals, Nady CL 5000)

Forums

I record without a board direcly into two Aardvark Q10's into Sonar 2.2 XL.

I have some nice compressors I can use later in mix down, but I just bought my first outboard compressor, a NADY CL-5000.

Would anyone be willing to share some pointers on how to get started using it for two applications:

1. Bass Guitar recorded DI
2. Vocals

Bass DI (preamp) suggestions.

I am looking for something to record bass directly into my daw and also use live, preferrabley tube. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, mostly just a preamp and compression type piece. I've already tried the Pod Pro for bass and didn't like it. I want something simple but of high quality. My budget is $1000. I've been considering several options which include:
