A big-HEDDed FATSO

So if I've got a HEDD, do I need a FATSO?

I recently picked up a HEDD, and while I really like it for certain types of things, it seems like it's pretty easy to go overboard with the effect. The "triode" distortion, in particular, doesn't sound very musical to me... it kinda reminds me of the crappy DRG "radiance generator" function on my old Finalizer, which I didn't like either.

The never ending search for bigger/fatter sound in DAW

Hi Gang,
I'll give you guys the set-up first. I track 75% real audio/25% midi projects to a mac hard disc medium. Pro studio(ie, I make my living at it)
Concern- improving warmth/fatness on tracks & mixes, (ie the elusive big analog sound)
Gear
mid quality mics(RODE NT-1, AKG C-1000's/D-II2, SM-7, 57's, CAD,, ATM,etc)

Need a "little big" console - HELP!

Really hoping someone can send me a brainwave here.

ProControl is soon to be a thing of the past in our "A" room. Rather than use Pro Tools A/D/A stages to interface all of our "cool guy" analog comps and EQ's, we are ditching the Pro Tools-as-mixer paradigm and going for something analog. Long story as to the 'why' of it, but this is the direction.

big dollar mic purchase

Due to a long expected "reorganization" at Universal, I will become free of any need to set an alarm clock as of June 30. The good news is that after 6 years I qualify for a small "buyout" that should allow me to add to the gear collection. I have held off on purchasing a large diaphragm condensor because I did not want to settle for something less than what I really wanted.
