Big monitors

I have a fairly well put together studio with a couple of pairs of small monitors, but occasionally I like to crank up a song. (to impress myself as well as clients and friends) What do you use or suggest for large monitors. I haven't put much thought into a budget, mainly because I'm not sure of pricing on bigger monitors.

All replies are appreciated.
Thanks, Tony

Help with Jazz Big Band Recording

Hi all,

I know there have been a couple of big band threads in the past and I have scoured them for details. I was hoping some of you might be able to jump in and help me out with a big band jazz recording I've got coming up. I've mostly recorded small groups, solo singer/songwriters, with the occasional rock band and church choir thrown in.

First, the setup of the band:

Recording Big Band on Sunday - Help!

Recording a local Big Band tomorrow and wanted some advice.

The band is made up of
Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano, Percussion, 2 Flutes, Trumpets, Trombones and Saxes (about 8 in each of the brass sections.
There will be 2 soloists

We're recording in a fairly dead theatre with an audience (although it's all about the recording)

How to make my voice sound bigger

I'm working on a song which I'm really excited about, but I can't seem to hammer down the vocals. I know what style I want to sing the song in, a soft, dreamy sort of style. The sound I'm getting is thin and seems too quiet in the mix. If I turn up the volume of the track, it distorts. Should I turn the other tracks down, compromising the big sound feel of the song?
