My first set of cymbals are getting pretty worn out, so I'm looking to buy some new ones. The ones I'm using now are Zildjian ZBTs(basically bottom of the line) I'm looking to spend about $400 on a new set of cymbals, and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I'm looking for just a basic set really...a crash or two, a ride, and high-hats.

Ok. Setting up a small studio in the next 6 months for local bands to record on.

Now I expect to have mostly Rock->Heavy rock/metal and all in between but I will have some ambient and Rap here and there.

Now I need to out fit the studio with mics for all seasons.

i live in portugal and a Neumann u87 new is around 2700 euros but i know a guy who's selling it for around 1300 euros! i think i can pull it off to 1000 euros but...

how can i see it is in mint condition? i mean the membRane or stuff inside which i cannot see from outside!

I need to buy a couple of 16 space racks for the studio. Any companies to look at or avoid? I don't want to spend more than $250 per cab. But I also don't want to get something that's flimsey.

Just setting up my own studio for the first time. I need some advice on buying a pre and perhaps compressor. Plan to mic classical guitar and vocals w/ a U87 . Used a Brent Averill before, liked it but a little pricy. The FMR audio RNP looks good but how does it sound? Other ideas? thanks in advance.

I have three questions regarding the infamous Yamaha NS-10's.

1. What exactly is the difference between the NS-10 and NS-10Ms?

2. Which tend to be the pro studio staple.

3. Since the only option is to buy these used, how does one go about buying them via ebay, etc. while making sure that they're in proper studio condition etc.?

I bought the new Masters TDM HD bundle with my Pro Tools HD system and it's useless at sample rates above 48k! NO TDM Support. RTAS works for sh*t on a g4/533. It is useless.

It does sound good at 44.1k but it's useless otherwise.
