Hello all. This might belong in 'hardware,' but I thought I'd try here first...

I'm, looking to start my fist real home project studio. I'm starting from ground one here. I've decided I'm going with the Alesis ADAT HD24 for my recorder, but the console still plagues me. I would pefer an inline console, at least 24 channels, 8 bus, new or used, $2500 or less.

i am working on building (the the best possible degree) a complete set of console manuals ans schematics. these will be in PDF format. (as hard copies would need a small library!). the current focus is on modern (still in production, or just out of production).

I confess that I have never been into similar situation but I would like to ask you.

The band records, edit, mix and master with you. You provide them your DAw back CD-Rs where most of the recording sessions are properly labled, edited and compacted.

I'm in the process of recapping my console - I have purchased all the required caps to do the entire monitor and master sections (i'm leaving the inputs as I use outboard pres).

Has anyone used the Soundcraft Spirit folio SX desk in a recording application? If so how did it fair?

So, what is everyone using for routing and listening? Stepped attenuators? Mastering consoles?

What would be the 'dream' mastering desk? What would you want, and use every day? Inserts? Parallel processing paths? VU's?

Just polling everyone, mostly with regards to workflow and what affects it.
