First of all, I wanted to say that I hope this message finds everyone here doing well and finding plenty of time for recording!

I have a POD Pro going into a Mesa power amp that I usually run stereo into my cabinet. I have never really given it much thought before, but should I record the cabinet running mono or stereo? I usually use two mics (I5 and some sort of condenser).

I have a Madison 4x12 cabinet. It has Eminence Symphony drivers and on the plate in back it has MONO, STEREO, and OUTPUT. The problem is that only the MONO side of the cabinet works. It is not the speakers, because when I plug into the STEREO side instead the other half of the cabinet works. Therefore, this must be a wiring issues. This goes out to all you wiring experts out there!

Is there a significant difference - tone wise, performance wise, whatever - between plastic speaker cabinets like the SRM450's and wood bodied speaker cabinets, like say the comparable Bag End passive 12" speakers?

Is this even a fair question?

So I was watching this video about the band Darkest Hour. They've been recording in Canada with Devin Townsend.

There's a bit in the vid midway through when they're tracking guitars where they show off this box, it's a quiet box, for recording guitars.

Any idea of the microphone inside? It looks kind of like a 57 with a windscreen on it on a weird looking mic stand.

say i have a solid state mic preamp like a trident, or Neve or something like that and a solid state power amp like a QSC rmx2450. or even for the preamp use of a 610. would that be acceptable and yeild good results for use as a guitar head before a cabinet.

When companies load a cabinet with speakers...say for instance a 4X12" cabinet. It appears that most companies like Marshall, or Hughes & Kettner use 4 of the same kind of speaker.
But on the other hand Bogner cabinets come with 2 speakers (Celestion V30's) and the other two speakers are (G12T75) different. And Avatar speaker cabinets can come various ways as well.

If you could have any 2 heads and any 2 cabinets in your studio, what would it be, and why?

Same question, but for bass this time, what would you choose and why?

So ive been using tlm 103s on the sides and a u47 in the front ...i like the sounds that I'm getting but i was just wondering what the rest of the world uses!

Can anybody please tell me any good reasons to record with a 2 X 12" guitar cabinet vs a 4 X 12" guitar cabinet?
I was gonna do this...
Buy 3 amps for recording (to get me going)
1st amp Marshall 120W (power amp/ tube head)
2nd amp Hughes & Kettner 120W (power amp/ tube head)
3rd amp Roland JC120 (combo cabinet)
