Church recording challenge

I've been handling the care and feeding of the church sound reinforcement system for a while now and doubling as the roadie for our traveling singers. FWIW, the church PA is a garden variety TOA mixer/amp in a rack with Shure SM58 wireless mics, wired podium mics on the pulpit and and lectern, and a Tascam tape deck. We've been distributing and posting podcasts of the sermon.

Drums are too loud in church setting

Due to complains of the drums being too loud in our church, we are looking into some level reducing options. Currently we have a nice old Gretch Catalina kit which most of the drummers speak fondly of. The sanctuary is about 50' wide by 100' long about 30' high at the peak, typical New England modern construction.

Church System Upgrade Questions

Hey Folks,

I've read a few posts here and found the information very helpful, so I decided to sign up and post a question of my own (Sorry for the longness of the post).

I am part of a new church plant. Currently we operate out of a local movie theater (about 230 seats). I look after most of the sound issues. I'm self taught and have no formal training so bear with me.

32 channel church mixer recommendations?

I'm trying to get our church to move up to a larger mixer. I have not looked at buying a new mixer in five or six years, so I'm looking in all directions. After primary considerations of sound quality and durability, ease of operations comes in a strong third. We don't need a large number of buses or aux outs.
