I want to uplaod some tracks from my minidisc to my computer. Is there some program I can download that will allow me to record into my computer stereo? Free would be best.

I'm starting to put together a list of components required for the new computer I want built and there are some things I'm not quite sure of. I'll give you a list of the things I want (or at least am pretty sure I want) and then ask a couple of questions:

Is there any sonic difference in sound quality if you burn your final mix into your computer with a program like DP or logic compared to recording your final mix into the Alesis Masterlink. I own a Apple dual gig G4. I know a lot of people record right intot eh computer or bounce in Pro Tools and burn CD's. I dont care about the storage factor or the mastering effects in the masterlink.

alright, tonight I tried to boot up my computer and it was having problems. A message came up that said something to the effect of "There's a problem with your hardware. Check the Hardware Monitor for details." So I checked the hardware monitor but there was no explanation of anything, just fan speed and voltage ratings.

After hours of trying to replace a 60G audio drive with a 180G/8M buffer onto an XP machine, come to realize it just ain't gonna happen (too many issues to list here...)

Anyway, so I was looking to add a FW port, but only have 3 PCI slots, all taken..

Hi, It's way past time for me to get the necessary gear for the mastering and CD duplication section of my small recording studio. I have no computer in my studio and have very little knowledge of computer gear.

Grateful thanks for any help or insight on this matter ! I just built my own DAW system, AMD 1.7 ghz XP, SiS chipset, Win 98SE, Soundblaster Live!, Tascam US-428 (for 24 bit audio). The really annoying problem I am having is that there seems to be electonic noise "seemingly" coming from the computer into my mixer(similar to the little zipping noise you get when you move the mouse).
