Anyone have any opinions on which is better for a PC based entry into DAW?

I've been doing research into the Digi 001 for about 8 months, ever since I went in to Guitar center and asked about the next step up from my Roland VS 840ex. The 001 is the only one that they showed me, and all the reviews I have read about it seem to be good. So now I am waiting for the windowsd xp version to come out.

I am putting together a new system and am considering this. What are the plusses/minuses over other systemS? How does everyone like the digi software? Soundcard? Just fishing for more information so I make a wise decision. Thanks! RandyG :cool:

So, first of all, I should say THANK YOU FOR ALL THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE AT THIS FORUM.
But I need an advice.
I have a DIGI 001 at my home studio and I am planning to buy a DIGIMAX (PreSonus) to improve the number of available inputs I can record at once (8 analogs + 8 digital).

I have a client who would like to import OMF files into his PTLE system. Is this possible.If it is what other files might he need.

Anyone out there used the Digi 001 fron-end successfully with non-Pro Tools apps like Cubase?

If so - how did you hook it up? For example, on my Mac I would like to use Cubase with my Digi 001,but haven't got around to configuring it.

Would love to hear some case studies.

With the Digi 001 system, are you limited to mixing onboard, or is there a way to get all 24 tracks out to an external mixer (analog or digital)? Sorry if this is a "duh" question, I'm very new to HD recording and wanted to be sure I hadn't missed something.

Now here's a question I would love an answer to:

I have a mac g4 digi001 and DP3 I use micro xpress
as an interface. Dp3 does not see the 001 hardware
I've talked to everyone and tried much I'm sure it is something small I'm doing. someone please give me some insight. also will I have these problems when ever I get Nuendo?
