Good DI boxes?

Hey all,

I was looking around and couldn't find a thread on this(maybe I missed it). I was looking for a really good phantom powered, reamping DI box. What are some really good ones that are reliable. I would be interested in buying a tube DI as well. What are your thoughts?

I found some countryman type 85 on craigslist for cheap. Any feedback on this DI box?

Thanks,

How do you record bass using a passive DI box + a mic?

Hey guys I'm wondering how to record bass using a passive DI box and a mic so that I can have 2 signals going into Pro Tools. I've never recorded with two signals before so I'm not real clear on how to hook everything up.

I'm using an Mbox with two inputs. So for one signal I go from the mic to the Mbox right?

Active DI Boxes?

Hi Folks

I currently have a Radial JDI. It sounds good. I'm fairly happy with it as am I with the DI on my Portico 5016. As quantative needs are increasing, I'm in the market for another one or two DIs. I have been reading opinions that Active DIs (in general) are better for guitars and basses. Is this true?

Mixing Bass amp with bass DI.

If you take a DI on your bass track and then proceed to amp that bass track and mix it in with the DI, what if the two tracks are out of phase, but you like the mic positioning on the amped track. I remember hearing about a plugin where you can adjust phase by the degree for a total of 360°, but let's say you don't have this and need an alternate method. What would you do?

Active DI running on phantom power question.

I've recently picked up a Countryman Type 85 active DI and I was searching as to whether or not you could run a guitar with active pickups into the front considering it doesn't have a pad, and I found a page saying that you shouldn't leave the instrument plugged into the input while the unit is running on phantom power. Why do you think that is?
