RecoderMan Drum OH Technique...
I've read through the original post many times but I still can't get it right. Can someone 'dumb-down' the setup of this technique for Drum OHs? I just got a set of Studio Projects C4's and I'd like to use them in this method.
Please no flames about the mic choice. Just the facts about setting up and using the RecorderMan Technique.
Thanks,
Chris

Overheads: Large or Small Diaphragm?
At the moment it's sort of irrelevant for me, as I currently have only small diaphragm condensers at my disposal (and one large, which I tend to use as a vocal mic,) but in general, which do people prefer?

Drum OH's
I've been looking at Kel HM-1's for guitar cab Micing but I also need a pair of Mic's for drum OH's. I've been looking at RODE NT5's and the Oktava MK012's for that application. Would the HM1's be comparable to those mics as drum OH's or would seperate mic's for each application be a better route?

Alternate to KM184 for Drum OH's?
I like my KM184's but would someone suggest an alternative for a more aggressive sound(deep lows, pointed, snappy). I'm going for that NuMetal drum sound like Korn, Tool, Godsmack, etc.
The KM184's are bright enough, but have a warm, round, woody quality that boxes out my snare a bit on drum OH's.

A matched pair for drum OH, upright piano & acoustic gui
Hiya all,
Been reading a lot on this forum but your sage advice would be appreciated on helping me choose a MP of condensers that I can use for 3 purposes - drum OHs in my dead room, my 1928 Grotrian Steinweg Upright Piano in my laminate-wood floored large living room, and acoustic guitar in my dead room.
Some that I have in mind...
compression on overhead drum mics
i'd be Micing each drum individually so they will just be for cymbals. is it worth getting a 2 channel compressor? i'll probably use an ART DMPA for a preamp.
