Do you tune your drums before you record?
Do you tune your drums by ear or with a UV meter? (and if so, which product)
I just wanted to know how many guys out there use what to tune the entire drum kit with.

My drums need punch ! - But !...
... when adding more volume they become unpleasant to listen to, they nearly hurt tin my ears, but when i lower them, they are in some way disappearing in the overall mix. It's like i need to get the drums away from the speakers, so that they are more distant but with more power...
Maybe removing some edgy frequencies would do the trick ?
I really hope i make sense !

Recording drums digitally with one mic...
Well, everything is basically done, I just need to master the drums better. The drums sound ok, the cymbals are a little loud, but its home recording, what can I really do...

recording drums
Ok.
I record onto a Tascam 488 thru a Behringer 2 channel compressor and put the drums thru a 8 channel Behringer mixer.
Can anyone suggest some good levels for compression for the drums?
I'm looking for a nice, deep bass drum sound and a solid, crisp snare hit.

solo-drums
Hi everyone
I am going to record a solo-drum session with a young Norwegian jazz-musician. It will be recorded in a room with some good reverb. THe music will probably be more contemporary/classical than jazz, in the tradition of solo-improvisation drummers like Han Bennink. Even though the recording is only for demo-purposes, I would like to make it as good as possible.

drums & percussion tools - Roger Linn - Akai - Top 40
In the 70's 80's and 90's I used The Linn Drum and Akai's MPC series for drums in most songs. Most Top 40 I listened to back then used programmed drums with midi.
Why? Once you appreciate how simple and, IMO great quality samples sound in pop music, it is really hard to look back. All I can say is, thank you to Roger Linn.
Somewhat a newb to recording...Doing drums...
So, lets say for instance, you have a living room, lots of funiture, and you want(NEED) to record the drums only through one microphone, directly to your computer. I've done this before... And hell, it sounds not bad at all for a crappy home recording, sounds much better than the other local bands around here...
recording drums..ghetto style
i have only four microphones to record the drums with. we do it in a very large open room. usually we put one in the bass drum, one in between the hi-hat and snare, one overhead, and one near the ride cymbal and the floor tom. Sadly this is all recorded onto one track. So all the mixing of the drums must de done before it is recorded. then when eq it, it eq's the whole drumset.

Need Advice Recording Drums in Less Than Ideal Conditions
I will be recordinging drums in a dormatory soon and was wondering if anyone had some tips to make the best of it. The only room I have to record in sounds pretty bad.
Mic drums using Mbox?
Ok, the Mbox has 2 inputs. What if I want to use 8 mic's on my drums? Where do I plug all those cables into?
Is there a piece of hardware that allows me to combine all them signalls into one?
I would really appreciate some feedback
Thankyou
Josh levi
