sampled drums
We have been using a roland v drum set a lot as there is no room for an acoustic kit at the moment oin my present home studio (not too mention noise issues with the neighbors). the roland drum soounds are ok but we would like to expand our drum sonic palette a bit. We do have Digital Performer and mach five and can use giga and other sample formats. Any recommendations?

drums on dodo from dave matthews
what do you guys think of those drums?
have you heard it with phones?
it seems the kick and snare have delays and are panned right one time and left the other...
it's quiet bizarre... i think...

Tips for making live drums more raw (ala SP1200)
Hey all, I'm looking for ways to get live drums to sound more raw, but without losing too much quality (ala EMU SP1200). They are recorded pretty well with 2 OH's, snare and kick mics in a pretty dry space. I tried cycling them through BATTERY and dropping the bit rate to 12 bit, along with some slammed compression on a aux. send, but it didn't really produce the effect I wanted.
Mixing Kick Drums and Bass Together.. Help!
Hey all --
Is there a rule of thumb when mixing kick drums and bass together in a track?
Because since both usually occupy the low frequencies...
Should they both be seperated?
Thanks!

Small diaphragm condensers for guitar and drums OH
Hi everyone,
I've been looking for a pair of small diaphragm condensers that would work well with an acoustic guitar and for drums overheads.
Some people have suggested the SM81's for me. Any alternatives I should consider? They are within my budget, no problem, but I wonder if they are the best option (they seem to be a studio staple around here).
Thanks.
Condenser Mic on Drums?
I recorded drums to computer using a condenser mic and it seems to pick up way too much hi-hats. I had the mic high on a stand in front of the set. Should I have this problem?

Creating Room Ambience W/ Sampled Drums
Hi folks,
I'm almost done recording a demo CD for a Beatles cover in which the drums were played on a Yamaha TD-7 and further channeled through samples from Platinum Drums and Drumkit from Hell.

Bring drums up in mix before mastering?
HI all, I hope I'm on the right forum, not being a mastering engineer. I've just completed a mix that I'm happy with. I'm sending it out to a really well known studio in my city to be mastered. The only problems with the mix were the drums, that for various reasons were hard to get thick enough as well as enough low end. I finally came up with the best mix I could and it's pretty decent.
