the Panning of Drums
For years i have been panning the drums in my mixes from the drummer's perspective. So when you are listening to a mix, it is like sitting behind the kit.
Now i have been told that it should be from the audience perspective, like you are standing in front of the kit when listening to a mix

Need advice on frequencies that drums/cymbals produce
Hello. This is my first post here.
I've got a Roland VS-2480CD,and have started attempting to record better drum tracks for my tunes.
My kick drum and 3 toms are miced with Digital Reference mics.
The snare and hi-hat have a Shure SM58 stuck in between them.
There is a Behringer B-1 condenser up high and centered,as an overhead.
New to recording drums, need some advice
Im about to have a band come over to use my home studio to record a demo CD, I have an Shure sm57 and a pl76 condnser. Mic placement advice is much appreciated. Note that i have no money to go buy new equipment :( .
Thanks! :D

Close mic techniques on drums
Hey guys and gals. I just wanted some opinions on close mic techniques for drums. Most people I talk to that run little project studios generally mic their drums with a snare mic, kick mic, couple over heads, maybe some tom mics, maybe a room mic, etc.

Recording Drums. Here's what I have, how would you set it?
Hello all.
I'm tracking some drums & would like some opinions from the pro's! :-)
Here's what I have to work with.
Mackie 1604 XDR going direct out into my Delta 1010 & Logic Gold.
I have 8 Bal ins & I could also use the Digi ins & a SB Live ins.
I have an RNC Comp & a 3630 (that I don't usually use for recording.)
Garage sounding drums
Hi,
I know it's all about "try and error", but I still wanna' ask if any of you have had any experience with this...
I'm gonna' record my drumset in the rehearsal studio and I want that garage band kind of sound (which is quite hot now, like The Hives and The White Stripes), some kind of 60:s sound...

cymbals vs. . drums
Okay, somebody tell me what's REALLY going on here. I know how to mike a drum kit, I know how to get great sounds, I've got great gear and great kits and snares, but no matter how hard I try, the snare drum track always turns into a ride cymbal or hi-hat track. Ditto the overheads and room mics.
