Earthworks QTC50 and Audient ASP800 - recording Vivaldi's Four Seasons

Hi,

I made a recording with a couple of Earthworks QTC50 going to Audient preamp ASP800.
Just fell in love with this combination.
Still there is more to search on, did use the clean path of the Audient, will try to test the saturation possibilities next time to see if I can make the sound even more full and rich.
All went through ADAT to RME Digiface and laptop with the Audient as master.

Grace 101 and Earthworks QTC40 Problem

Don't know if this is the right section for this, but I'm having a noise problem recording with the QTC40 and Grace preamp. Thought maybe I could skip testing some parts of the recording chain if I describe the problem in enough detail. Using 5 mics with this project, when the Grace input began to make some noise, then the signal disappeared altogether. Simple enough, eh? However, I kept recording and the signal re-appeared with no changes on my part. I stopped, checked all connections (high quality mic cable into Grace, high quality cable from Grace into RME Multiface II).

Earthworks PM40 substitute?

Hi! I'm new here. I just bought a bad-ass bechstein grand, and planning on recording trio sessions at home.
The problem is that I have cars go by all the time outside my house, so it's a little noisy.

Then i saw (and heard) the pm40 and i was stunned by the sound you can get even with the lid closed. I want That, i thought. The problem is that its super-expensive.

So my first thought was to get a pair of good omni mics in my pricerange, and place them exactly like the pm40:s are placed.

Earthworks QTC Series

My wife bought me a surprise present. :o
A matched pair of QTC50's.

I have been drooling over those mic's for 2 years now. I am curious to hear what other people have to say about them. I can't seem to find many reviews out there. I have the demo disc, and like what I hear. But I am just wondering how they perform for other people?

Thanks!

Any other Earthworks mic fans out there?

I just received my Earthworks QTC-40 today. Have been test recording with it all day, and, I think I am in love.

Purchased the QTC-40 for recording vocals, and it beautifully rockets the vocals I have recorded today to the front of the mix. The high is so clear and crisp, I still find it hard to believe my ears. The mid and bass ranges were also surprisingly full and THERE… hard to believe you could pull that kind of sound from that small of a mic.

Just ordered the earthworks DK drum kit mics

http://www.bayviewproaudio.com/customer/product.php?productid=21767

it comes with only three mics i have two questions for you kind gentle ppl.

1. Being that there are only three mics. (and it sounds great with only three) the one small problem would be mixing to only the capabilities that only a pair of over heads would have (not including the bass drum) . Are therye any techniques for such a way of mixing with two overheads only?
