Insurance on Equipment

I travel a lot with my equipment and I finally decided to get some insurance on it. I found this on the Digidesign Users Conference - TDM for Mac forum. Anyone using them? Have you made any claims with them? Premiums seem very reasonable around 6.00 per thousand dollars of equipment and covers equipment on the road as well as the studio.

equipment purchase decisions

Ok I've pretty much decided to keep saving my money up for a Crane Song spider. Like most people I havent actually heard one but have heard other Crane Song products and love them. As of now I dont have any big name gear (I record on a digi 001 with Mackie pres). The only problem is if and when I do buy the spider I won't be having any extra money for a long time.

favorite piece of recording equipment

What is your favorite piece of recording equipment? If judging by specs alone, it is probably your HD recorder, or ADAT. Or if you are fortunate enuff, your Analog Multitrack. Maybe it's your new Neumann or BLUE mic. Whatever it is, that is strickly technically speacking. If you were to judge by its results so far you might be surprised by your choice.

Live 8 track recording equipment?

I get the impression several of you think ADAT's will soon be a thing of the past. I have been using mine for live eight track recording projects and it has worked well for me. What would you all recommend as a replacement with a reasonable cost? I need to record up to five hours of music and ADAT tapes make a very cost effective method.
