Internal or External Drive better for Audio?
Hey all!
I have a Mac Pro which has 4 internal hard drive slots. Currently I have two internal drives; the System Drive and a Windows Drive. I have multiple external Firewire drives - however, before I buy a new drive I was wondering which would be 'faster' in shuttling the information to the processor an internal drive or external? My guess would be that internal drive.

Pro Tools External HD issue
So, I installed a Mbox2 Mini on a pc with vista 32bit as the OS, only to realize after I installed it that the pc doesn't have a firewire port on it for an external HD.
Short of buying an actual pci card for the computer, is there a work around for this? I would just use a HD with USB 2.0, but that is expressly forbidden, in fact, I haven't even tried it.

Traveler w/ External USB Drive?
Hi all,
I'm still waiting for all the equipment to arrive, but a question in the meantime if I may: Will it work to record onto my Lacie external USB 2.0 HD from my Macbook using the MOTU Traveler and Logic?

Laptop recording: external mic-in vs. USB
Moved from a different thread:
RemyRAD wrote: The only thing that goes into microphone inputs on a computer is computer microphones. Not studio microphones. Not phonograph cartridges. Just $3.98 multimedia microphones. That's all that should be plugged into those anything else is WRONG WRONG WRONG.

suggestions for external hdd.
i'm sure this has been asked a million times, but it's not a question that seems to lend itself to the search engine very well...
but who's got suggestions here?
usb& firewire, 7200 rpm of course, quiet (silent?),
here's the clincher- bus powered.
as far as capacity goes, bigger the better.
