Description

Since 1985, Focusrite has been a name synonymous with no-compromise mic pres following the creation of the ISA 110 for Sir George Martin's Neve console at Air Studios. The legacy of the original ISA 110 lives on today, not only in the ISA range itself, but also in every mic pre we design.

Standing for 'Input Signal Amplifier', the ISA range was born out of the original Focusrite Forte console of the late 80's, and later the Focusrite Studio Console. The core modules from these consoles live on with Focusrite's current range of ISA products, which have in themselves also become recording classics, and the choice of the world's finest producers and engineers. All ISA products use the Lundahl LL1538 input transformer and a custom Zobel network, both of which contribute to their sought-after sound.

Langevin Dual Vocal Combo or Focusrite ISA 428?

Hi everyone,

Some of you might remember a thread I posted a while ago about spending US$4000 on preamps. Turns out I'll only have half that money for 6 months, and I have a CD to record that must be out by December.

So, I can only buy one of the pres we discussed, and they were the Langevin Dual Vocal Combo and the Focusrite ISA428.

AMEK 9098 Eq vs. . Focusrite ISA 220 vs. . Langevin DVC

Hi guys,

I am using Soundcraft Ghost as my main preamp for recording of acoustic instruments. I want to improve my the sound quality. I need a very high-endpreamp for most of my acoustic work. For this I short list AMEK 9098 Eq, Focusrite ISA 220, Langevin DVC. Please suggest me the best one for the highest quality.

thanks and regard

Focusrite ISA428

Hi, what a great group! I'm considering a Focusrite 428 Pre pack because it looks like the most useful front end preamp to bypass my digi001 preamp and converters. (via ADAT) I like the Focusrite sound tho I don't have too much to compare it to. At about 2K is there something else I ought to be looking at? This is my first "bigger" preamp purchase so i want to invest. :w:

Focusrite ISA 428 Pre - Comments / Suggestions

I am investingating the Focusrite ISA 428 Pre. It has a price point around $1500 for 4 inputs based on Neve design. This would be my first "real" pre purchase. I am planning it to go into an Event EZ-Bus digital mixer direct to the a Mackie SDR recorder (on order) or straight into the Mackie depending on which converters sound better. Primary Mic is a RODE NT1.
