i'm fairly new to the whole home recording environment, so please bear with me here.

i'd like to start recording my own songs using my guitar and some type of drum machine software for starters.

I'm just getting started into recording and I wanted to know the best affordable equipment i could get for starting out. I mainly am just doing acoustic tracks with Keys backing and maybe a few electric guitar licks, nothing too fancy. Brand recommendations, mixers, programs, any type of guidance would be nice. thanks guys

Ok to make a long story short I have been recording music for quite some time now from my electric keyboards's 1/4inch output directly to my PC sound card's 1/8inch line in. I have been using the free program Audacity for my recording software of choice and it has worked wonders for it being free.

hi, i baught a vr-800 on ebay $120 i havnt paid for it yet, but he sais it needs a harddrive, is that gonna cost me much? also i was hoping to use an analog mixer with it, i see some decent old mixers on ebay cheap enough, is there a way i can use an anolog mixer with the digital recorder?
I'm completely fresh to this sort of thing, so i got idea what I'm doing really,

What should I buy first. I have a computer with 2 gigs of RAM 1/4 inch input and Sonar 6 Producer Edition. What next?

As the title suggests, I'm thinking of starting to record my own material but haven't got a clue which setup would be good for me.

ok, i recently came into some money and as a longtime musician i decided to buy some good quality recording equipment. in all honesty, i dont know that much about mics, equipment, etc. other then just being in recording studios recording with my various bands over the years.

I've been reading this board for a year and some now, without having had prior to now anything genuinely interesting to contribute - seems you all are asking/answering pretty much the same questions I encounter. But now I think I have a question some of you will find entertaining.

Alright. So i am new to the forums, and fairly new to recording as well. To make a long story short, I am in school for the recording industry (Music Industry Arts @ Fanshawe) and i need to set my self up with a digital work station. Nothing over the top, but something that can run logic, and possibly pro tools LE.
