Hello!

I once heard a comparison between an old ribbon and a new sennheiser, on voice, and was quite taken away with the natural, non-hyped texture of the ribbon. Alwaz wanted to have one since.

Now, being a bit impatient as i am i was looking at this :

I noticed that my Brick has a balanced output but the FMR RNC needs an unbalanced input!

How do I handle this? Can I "unbalance" the line before it hits the RNC?

Out of curiousity I tried going into the FMR RNC with a balanced cable anyway and it works but there is some hum. It's also pretty low level and I have to crank up both the Brick and the RNC to get decent levels.

I just got this thing setup and my condenser mic plugs in and works properly but I'm having trouble getting any sound when I plugin my guitar or bass into the instrument input.

Any ideas?

Anyone have experience with both Focusrite's Platinum range preamps (Octopre, Voicemaster) and The Brick? How do they stack up? Has anyone compared The Brick to a VTB-1? (I assume at $100 the VTB-1 lands in that budget category of "sounds okay, but nothing special"). Any insight would be appreciated.

Need some help.
My Balanced output on the GT Brick to my Delta Omni balanced line input isn't working properly. Sound volume is very, very low and crackly. With a TS line it works fine however. Problem is only with a TRS line. I've checked the T=+, R=-, and Sleeve=Grnd connections everything is fine...Am I missing something? Or is something wrong with my Omni?

I already own The Brick which I'm fairly happy with but I'm wondering if the Sebatron VMP-1000 might sound even better. Is it worth the extra $400? Has anyone compared these two preamps?

i want to get a pre for my home studio but also use it at gigs for my bass. i saw a guy using an Avalon u5 last night and his rig sounded sweet! i`ve heard good things about the brick also. i`d like to use the pre i get for guitar an vocals and whatever. any suggestions. budget is a consideration.

Hello all, so I just received the brick and I am just plugging it in to do some test and I am wondering what is the inst thru output used for? Does it bypass the tubes in the brick to give it a cleaner sound, and also when using the inst thru. Is that your main output to be passed into your daw?

just ordered "The brick" from the US. Now I need to change the internal voltage switching from 110V to 230V as I live in Germany. I just had a look inside the unit but I cannot find any switch for my purpose.

Any help ?
