Wharfedale 8.2 active monitors hiss when nothing playing?

Hi,
Upon several recommendations from this and other forums I bought a pair of Wharfdale 8.2 Diamond pro active monitor speakers.

Ive just plugged the power in, turned them on and without even plugging in a music cable yet I can hear a hiss (on 1/4 volume, which is quiet).

This is extremly frustrating, does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?

please help, gain levels low, hiss

I'm new to recording and while tracking my gain levels were low(i know)...i have to turn it up pretty high when playing back...but i get hiss from the speakers at this point and it sounds terrible...any ideas?maybe run the whole thing through a pre to bring it up?

please..any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Mixer hiss

I just picked up the Zoom H2 the other day with plans to use it for field recording. I'd like to ask an opinion on a field mixer please.

I'm looking at a small and inexpensive field mixer to enable use of headphones with a couple mics. I want to be able to send the signal from this mixer to both my video camera AND the H2. I have my eye on the Rolls MX34.

hissing/cut off sound in ear-monitor mix

Hi,

I have brand new in-ear monitors with an older Shure (receiver?) body pack.
I also have a wireless head set (with transmitter body pack) and Sennheiser wireless sax mic (with transmitter attached to the horn itself.)

I'm getting a hissing sound in my in-ear monitors that intermitantly cuts off for split second.

Hiss - either too much hiss or too little volume, help!

Hey all,
I would really appreciate some help as I'm pulling my hair out here.

I have the following very simple setup:

Shure SM58 Mic -> PreSonus FP10 (FireWire) -> Cubase SX3

If I set all my FP10 gain nobs to unity (straight up/centred) the volume on the PC barly registers. I figure this is fine as the SM58 needs a fair bit of gain.

Stereo mix not showing up on Vista + mic hiss problem

Forums

I have Windows Vista and I tried recording from the stereo mix on Audacity and fruity loops. I tried looking around different websites and none of them have seem to have found a solution to my problem. I right clicked the volume icon and selected recording devices then I right clicked and selected "Show disconnected and disabled devices" still nothing shows up except the microphone. :(
