I have been looking into getting a preamp for a Korg DAW. Some of the preamps I have looked at include: Focusrite red 8 dual mic preamp, mh441 isa 428, or isa 430 mkII. Avalon makes a dual mono ad2022, which I might also be interested in.

Any experience with these? I'm focusing mainly on down tempo hip hop with plenty of bass. Any suggestions? $1000 limit (i found a spanking "new" used 909 for $1000 out the door)

I know this board is fairly new so I would'nt expect too many replies on it. But I'd like to comment on their use of a 12AU7 tube as part of the audio/effects circuitry and the 120 note polyphony they've upgraded this thing to. I currently own a Triton rack so I can imagine how it may sound. Maybe the whole Triton thing has played out and this is their way of keeping a good thing going.

Which of these two keyboards (or sound modules)would you buy, and why? Please be as detailed as possible. I'm hearing from many that the Motif would demolish the Triton, but no one ever gives me the reason why.

I am especially interested in good piano/strings sounds, although also looking for variety, much flexibility, good sound quality. Thoughts on the Triton (and particular models--e.g. LE, Studio), or equivalents at lesser price?

Well, I purchased a Korg D1600. Nice unit. Recorded about 40 songs, some really irreplaceable.

Yesterday, the hard drive would not boot up. I kept getting "init hard drive" error messages. I finally clicked ok--after about 1 second only, the hard drive then worked--with no ability to access the prior songs.

I have been searching for some reliable feedback on whether or not to get one of these units to take some stress off my cpu.
