Mobile Laptops: Windows or Mac?

Hello!

If one was to dedicate a laptop completely to (primarily) audio and (some) video editing, which is more condusive? Windows or Mac? I am going to be recording live music, running loops, creating beats, etc., and also editing a lot of pictures and some video.

Would a Mac be preferred for this? If so, why? If not, why not?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Lexicon lambda and laptops

I'm thinking of getting a Lexicon lambda, using it with a laptop to do recording and doing the audio editing on my PC. Looking at the minimum requirements has me worried - XP, Pentium III (preferably IV), 256M (preferably 512M of Ram) are okay, but it says 7200rpm Hardrive, which of course I don't have in a laptop. I think it's 4200rpm is what I'll have to work with.

digital multi-track or firewire base laptop recording?

after much consideration on my previous topic. i have considered to buy a digital multi-track recorder. but what is your opinion on it? would a firewire system be a better choice?

right now i am looking at the Fostex MR8HD Digital Multi-track Recorder & the Alesis MulitMix 8 FireWire 8 channel mixer/interface

my price range is now up to $450 USD.
