laptop recording computer
I am looking to upgrade my computer, and have been thinking about getting a laptop to replace my aging desktop. Anyone have any experience with recording on laptops? I am looking to be able to record 10 or more tracks simultaneous, but I'm not too worried about loading up on plugins or virtual instruments. Also, I am probably going to stick w/ PC. Will a 1 gig P3 be able to hold up?

Is anybody using Logic Audio on a laptop. If so is it PC or Mac and what performance (how many tracks or EXS24 channels) are you getting ?

Laptop PC Audio Chips
Does anyone have an opinion as to which is a reasonable Audio chip inbuilt into a Laptop ?
I want to monitor WA vs etc on cans strait out of the Laptop without an additional USB box PC card
etc.
I've seen Yamaha, ESS, and Crystal in various specs.
I know the inbuilt chips are all a bit dodgy but which is the best of the bunch in your view ?

Mac studio needs laptop, perhaps... (horrors!) a PC ?
Here's the drill,
I bought a couple of Palm handheld computer / organizers for me and the engineer at the studio. Idea being, fast updatable (syncronises with base computer(s) ) studio diary at all times, (even remote internet updating is possible)
