Problems configuring the MOTU mkII with a laptop
I'm trying to connect the MOTU mkII (USB 2.0) to a laptop pc but there seem to be a syncronization problem. I've got a Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and the USB 2.0 is correctly instaled, and I can install the drivers of the mkII without having any problem.
monitor noises with laptop
hi all
i did a search of the site and it seems like no one else is having this problem, but my laptop's processing is affecting my powered monitors. Everytime the processor thinks, i get a crazy electric buzzing in the monitors.
any ideas how to solve this? Anyone else noticing anything similar?

thinking of getting a laptop
so I'm slightly contemplating getting a laptop to use for my daw. I'm very hesitant as I've never purchased a laptop due to the price/performance ratio, but that gap seems to be closing so i figured having a portable rig might be really cool. My main concern is the noise factor.

48 tracks live recording w/laptop?
I was wondering if any one can tell me if achieving a 48 track recording rig is possible with a laptop. I have seen many 24 track rigs but not a lot bigger. Iam open to any suggesttions I currently use DP 4.6 on a Mac 1.6 g4 powerbook with RME Fireface.

emachines laptop?
Hi all,
I am thinking of buying a used Emachines laptop (an m6805, m6809 or m6811). I want to use it for multitrack recording. It has a firewire port, but according to the specs it is only 400 Mbits, while my firewire interface is 800 Mbits.

Switching to a Laptop
Hi. I just started going to school in the city and am very much into audio recording. I use Pro Tools and have an mbox. Because of all the travel back and forth from school and home I have decided to look into getting a laptop to do my audio work on. Right now I have a P4 2.6 GHZ desktop with 512 mb ram and a single 120 gb hard drive. I would want something with at least the same performance.

Multitracking a band on my laptop
I would like to record my band, live, in a multitrack format with my laptop using Sonar as my software. I've determined that I need some type of interface in-between my mixer and my USB port, the majority of which (USB interfaces) seem to only have 2 inputs. Is this maneuver even possible considering that the drums will take 6 tracks, 2 guitar tracks and a bass?

looking for a quiet laptop for location recording
I am looking at buying a PC laptop for location recording, but want minimal hardrive and fan noise picked up in my recordings. I know the G4 powerbooks are relatively quiet, but I DON'T want to go the apple route. Do any of you folk know of a good alternative, processing power and having the latest impressive specs are not a priority here, I just want something that's quiet.
Edirol ua-1000 or MOTU Traveler on a Dell Laptop
Hi I already posted once regarding some doubts about some audio interfaces. Finally I decided to go for the traveler, but after doing some more research on the internet I am beggining to have some seconds thoughts about it, mostly becouse of the compatibilitiy issues.
