Soft Synth Latency

I'm in an area that I don't know too much about. Integrating a soft synth into ACID 4.0. I think I've got everything installed just fine. The problem is serious latency. I'd read about this, but figured it might not be too bad... wrong. The setup is...

PIII 733 Mhz
Windows 98me
AudiomediaIII card
Acid 4.0
Sampletank

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Concept of reducing latency by hardware monitering,,,

Greetings,

one thing i have never quite understood is the concept of reduring the latency you hear (through headphones i would assume) when overubbing onto a whole lotta tracks. obviously the computer has to do a lot of stuff to kee up with the info flow..but i am trying to get my head around the hardware fix.

Sample rates and latency in HD

I've gleaned from Greg and Nika that if the Digi interfaces are really top notch the sample rates for getting audio into PT should not make any difference.

As running sessions at 96kHz is best
for the plugin quality, it makes sense to record at 96kHz then, even though the audio sampled should sound the same at 48kHz - it saves upsampling.

wandering latency

Howdy all,

The program that I mainly use for multi-tracking, Cool Edit Pro, has a preference option that lets you program in an assigned latency for various soundcards you might use. Pretty cool, However,. .

I have just spent a few hours trying to figure out exactly how much said latency is for each of the several cards and converters that I use.

My test is this:
