Hi folks - could I get a quick bit of advice please? I was in a band that now split - there were 5 of us and I was the techy guy/keyboardist/co-writer. We split about a year ago. Never had any record deals or anything. Had a good time, made some good tunes.

Ok, I've tried to have these questions answered everywhere with no success, so I humbly ask you guys.

I operate a project studio in a residential neighborhood.
Can someone please explain the legal hows/is that makes it different than operating a commercial studio in a residential neighborhood?

Ok, so in a month I will have finished my first album (folk/acoustic/electronic sound). I have slaved over this in the studio and have had good feedback. Everything will be finished, artwork, mastering, story, website, bio.

Now heres my question -
"When approaching record labels is there a certain name for a contract that is for the release of a finished album?"

Is anybody familiar with the master and synch licensing deals that Current.TV.com is offering?

Put your agreements in writing and keep everyone knowing what their roles are, what is expected of them and how they will get paid.

My friend and I record vocals on hip hop instrumentals as a hobby. We basically do freestyle and we think they're not too shabby and would like to create a website to share, NOT SELL, our music with friends and anyone who visits.
