Hi all. I am a small studio owner who is trying to get educated on the legalities of music production. I have many questions.
Here is my situation.
I am an aspiring producer/engineer. I am starting to record a major project which I plan to sell/market as much as my budget will allow.
I am looking for contracts/agreements that will protect everybodys best interests.

I am a writer/rapper/producer/engineer/studio oowner. I have numerous songz I have done and sold with no contracts at all.

In the last few months things have happened that were "eye openers". I am no longer releasing recordings,beats, any production without a contract.

Lets get a little Database going in this Forum.

Situation: I record tracks at a studio. I pay in full for the time. They won't give me my raw tracks so I can bring them somewhere else to mix and master.

Does this studio have any sort of legal right to with-hold my tracks or am I crazy?

So far I've only been recording friends but I would like to start recording local bands...most of whom I don't know. I think it would be a good idea to get some sort of legal contract that would require the clients to pay in a certain amount of time for any equipment damaged, broken, or stolen.

I was wondering if any one has any good midi downloading sites? Oh yeah free ones I am a broke S.O.B. :? :?
