How to get rid of frequency level up and down ?
Hello masters,
Can huge input levels harm VMP inputs?
Greets all,
I've got a VMP 2000e which I love and use every day. Sometimes I use the first ch to overdrive the 2nd ch, like with guitar, synth, etc.
What I'm wondering is: can extremely hot levels harm the inputs? My memory and experience is that they cannot be harmed by huge input levels but just want to be sure.
cheers

dda -2dbu (-10/+4 ref levels)
Hello,
I've recently purchased a dda interface console and am trying to figure out the best way to connect it to my 002r.
The direct outs and inserts on the dda are -2 dbu but the ins on my 002 and external adc are -10 or +4dbu.

Help taking my studio to the next level please.
Ok, first post on RO ond I'm really happy that I found this place. Seems very helpful on multiple levels. Background: Keyboard player of about twenty years. Got into computer based sequencing about four years ago. Got my first real DAW about 2.5 years ago. I currently sequence with Cubase SX 3 and I want to continue to use it.
Mixing: achieving healthy levels with the help of VU?
I'm looking to develop some sound techniques for setting relative levels within my mixes. I'm constantly looking at my master fader to make sure it's not clipping and I think this is due to poor practise in setting initial levels.
Dealing with unmatched levels in the mix
Hey,
we just recorded a demo and worked really hard to get the sound to be good from mike placement and such, though I'm sure that's a relative term.
My question is this:

Questions about Headroom / Levels
Wasn't sure where to post this since it's digital audio. But I'm wondering if there are any industry standards with regard to levels when recording.
I'm running a Mackie 1220 with Firewire interface and using the included Tracktion software on a Windows XP machine. My microphones (don't laugh) are a couple MXL's (the $100 combo pack).

problem with live vocal levels
OK, here is my situation...I am running sound at a 500-600 capacity club in my area and this is my first experience in actually building and installing a setup in a venue. I have worked and assisted before in much larger venues with their house systems but never have I been solely responsible for setting up, installing, purchasing, maintaining, and running the whole thing.

Pre Mastering Levels?
Hello everyone this is my first post. Ive been reading around and love the site and information I am attaining.
I am using an Emu 1820M with a Studio Projects B3 mic.
I got 2 Rokit RP5's and getting a sub probably tomorrow.
I record my vocals in mono with levels peaking around -18dB
Which I know is good for headroom purposes.

Final Level Problem?
I recorded at 16b/44.1k then i converted them to 32 bit/44.1k (float). and i cant get enough volume without clipping. it doesnt really sound distorted when i go over 0db but it says its clipping, well the thing is that when i mixdown the highest volume isn't close to a lets say whateversong.wav or .mp3 I just dont know why my recordings have lower volume. grrr.
