Active monitor level vs. . board level.
I use Event TR8XL monitors. I leave the volume knobs in the 95% up position. They are connected to an FW1884. The FW has a 'Monitor' level pot which I leave usually in the 50% position. The FW also has a master fader which controls the output from Sonar4. I find that for normal listening levels the master fader needs to be down around the 25-30% position.

leveling kick comp/lim?
I have recorded a drummer with a sometimes heavier foot, ie. the kick is all over the place. how should I level out the kick, compression or limiter, and what kind of ratio, attack and release settings? it is just way too dynamic, I used an old ludwig kick with a D112 into an older Joemeek , good sound just way to dynamic, I don't want to ruin the punch, just a lot less dynamic HELP!

What is line-level Microphone input?
Sorry for a newbie question.
I am considering getting a new sound card, the new creative X-Fi. Under the specification page, it states "Shared line-level analog Line/Microphone input via 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) stereo jack".

Getting each track the same level!
Hello all,
Im just finishing up mixing an album, and now I'm about to master the album myself ( because I'm low on funds ).
Are there any programs out there that once all the tracks are completed, it will make sure the volume levels for each track are all the same.. just incase some are a bit off.

Broadcast levels
Hi everyone,I was just wondering what would be the maximum loudness level for pop music you would want to send to commercial radio stations for fm broadcast.A lot of commercial CD's I've been listening to have a loudness level of up to +13 vu and sound great (some don't),I'm sure this would not sound very nice on radio after going through all thier limiters and other processing. So the main poin

Got a good mix but levels are low...
I am producing a demo for a local band and have a decent mix for them on CD. I put the disc in and compared it to other bands of the same genre and found the levels were pretty low in comparison. What techniques can I use post-mix to get the levels up? I am new to all of this if you can't tell.
