So, I preface my topic, here, by saying that I totally know that running USB 2 WesternDigital MyBooks for 24+ track recordinug is not the most efficient and reliable method... But It works very well.

Location recording with a USB condenser microphone - help please?
First post - go easy on me please :)
I've just bought an iPad (woohoo!).
One of the main things I intend to use it for is on-location recording: found sounds for samples, and for spoken word interviews. I am a complete beginner at this - assume I know nothing and you'll be spot on. My background is in music production using Reason & Record, but I want to branch out.
MICROPHONE FOR LOCATION RECORDING OF SYMPHONY ORCHESTRAS?
Greetings! I am a professional conductor who wants to get decent recordings of the orchestras I conduct when travelling. I had an Audio-Technica AT822 and a Sony DAT walkman, which did pretty well. I have replaced the SONY with a Korg MR1 and the microphone, unfortunately, was lost during travels.
Location recording rig
Hello
How do you organize your rigs when doing location recordings?
I'm toying with the idea of using my laptop for location recordings. So far I've recorded to a Mackie SDR 24/96 and then transfered to my computer when I'm back home.

Orchestral Soundtrack location recording advice
I've been asked to put some numbers together for a location recording of 60 pc orchestra, performing live to clicktrack & picture. (We have the hall, the players are union, and there's a finite budget already in place.)
Suggestions needed for location recording tonight.
Folks.
In 8 hours time I have to record a woman singing, unaccompanied, at a function tonight.
She wants any Micing to be "invisible". She has a huge theatrical kind of voice.
I'll be using a laptop and an Mbox2. So a 2 channel recording is it.
Mics at my disposal are:
1x TLM-103
1x MXL V67
2x AKG C-535
Sound Devices preamps
I'm wondering if anyone who has used the new Sound Devices recorders could comment on the preamps... are they comparable to well liked transparent pre-amps such as Millennia, Grace, DAV etc.
