I've been looking for a good clean musical sounding mixer for a home studio. My budget is about $500-600. I'm leaning toward a Soundcraft Spirit M8. Anything better that I might find used for a similar price? Thanks.

i'm using Samplitude on a p4-3.06 with 1gb ddr machine with RME hammerfall multiface, an AKG C414-BTL-II microphone, and a custom made mic preamp-amp (i'm not rich, i have funding from a record company :) )

How you obtain clarity in the low end from a two track stereo track.., no low-pass filter was used on the bass instruments .., help

:confused: I have just recently built a project studio in a 2000 sqr/ft lot. The partition wall between my studio and the shop next (I am in a strip mall ) was said to be 14" wide - staggererd studs 5/8 drywall with insulation. To achieve an STC of 55 we built on accordingly. As it turns out the wall between me and the next door is roughly 8" - not on staggered studs but with insulation.

Lately in my (hip hop ) mixes I've been finding myself EQing down the low end on the kicks and basslines (Instead of boosting, which one would assume hip hop would call for?). Even after I remove all the "muddy" frequencies.

Hey, I have been really lucky to record in some big studios and to shorten a long story, I know how much the big boys rely on their mic preamp's. I have a sixteen track Fostex Digital unit, and I could really use some warmth..mainly for vocals and acoustic guitar. I use a fairly inexpensive condenser.

Now that I'm not on the the Digi site. Man I saw the post on the new stuff & did not realize there were pics also. Damn. Anyhow, does anyone no how to get a copy of what was on the Digi site before they deleted it?

so i'm mixing this record. but i'm mixing in a concrete basement, which is big, high ceilings [uneven wood, 9 ft], and my mix area is about 15ft cube, with the back "wall" of the cube actually going out 25 ft at least, irregularly [bookshelves, different depths, stairs, etc].
