Full sounding live choral recording with low end mics?
Hi, this is my first post. I've been reading for a while and finally decided to jump in. I'm looking for helpful hints and/or suggestions on how to mic a choral concert I'll be recording.

a low budget alternative to Massive Passive EQ
Hello. I have a small project studio and usually i don't have any mastering on my projects mix - i know very pro gear are needed for that. The only operation i like doing is to insert a SPL Vitalizer in the main out channel of my Mackie 32-8 mixer, so that the mix sound is like... sweatened and rounded.
1/4" interconnect cables...high-end vs. . low end (price)
I was just looking at picking up some new 1/4" cables to connect stuff in my home studio. Basically, need them to connect preamps to compressors, compressors to the soundcard inputs, nothing fancy. Probably looking at buying about 10 or so for now, probably about 3' to 6' in length. My question is this...
early music & low gear
Hallo. i HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME...
The next week I have to record some concerts, especially one is very important: a cello and an harpsichord performing early music in a nice room. The other concerts are classical guitar ones (guitar quartet and soloists).

Summing up low frequencies
Hey guys,
I'm interested in the mechanics of summing up low frequencies of a mix during mastering (lower than 50Hz) to a narrower signal. How is this done by a mastering engineer?
Thanks in advance

Narrowing the stereo field of the low end?
I understand that narrowing the low end is often done when mastering for vinyl, but is this ever used when mastering for CD?
Is it desirable to go mono with frequencies below, say 200hz?
Thanks,
Mark

my at2020 gives me nothing but hiss and very low signal
Recently we have had rediculous amounts of rain and humidity in my town, i have a home studio/practice space in my basement which tends to get a little humid unfortunately. last week my friend and I sat down to do some acoustic recording. i put the at2020 in front his guitar. when i turned on my Behringer mixer all i got from the mic was hiss.
Master volume vs. . low volume mixing
I've heard that it's better to mix every channel in a digital mix in a low volume so that the master output channel doesn't clip, instead of lowering the master volume 3,4,5dB to avoid master output mixing, is this necessarilly true? why?

HOW TO ADJUST THE LOW END
Hi i have a song which i had been mixing for quite a while now. the level adjust of each an instrument is okay u can actually more or less hear each and everything. However the finshed product always is duller and less loud than from the "reference songs" i have chosen or any song for that matter which i heard in the same room.
