Metalcore guitar recording volume levels? please help!
thank you for checking this threat out
I have a metalcore band and I'm a bit doubtful about the guitar volume levels and their distribution when recording metal...
The thing is one person said one guitar has to have a higher volume than the other guitar when doing rhytm, i.e. when both guitars are playing the same riff, so the sound doesnt get distorted...
Home studio set up for metal
ok, so this is my first thread. i am the drummer and rhythm guitarist for my band. over years i have upgraded recording equipment. i started with a 4 tracks and bounced tracks by mixing down to a vcr, which sucked. i have grown up and want to pursue a degree in audio production. my band plans to record a 10 song album by ourselves. this is my set up, all my band and i have for gear:

Help Diagnose Mud in Guitar Tone (Metal)
Not really part of a composition, but a buddy of mine said that he thought these tracks sounded 'hollow'. I personally think they sound more along the lines of 'muddy'. I'm not sure though, let me know what you think. You will hear three sections of double tracked guitars with slightly different tones.

Micing A Heavy Metal Drum Kit
This isn't so much a question, as an example of how I recently mic'ed a metal drum kit for a session.
All I was recording was the kit (minus a few scratch tracks), so my resources were plentiful.
Also, I am not mixing this project - my purpose was only to provide enough quality drum tracks for the mix engineer to work with.

Hi everyone,
General Advice On Mixing Metal In Logic 8
Hey,
Only just joined this forum and already found some of the threads very handy, but need a bit of extra advice on some mixing in Logic 8.
I run full Logic 8 on a Powermac G5, using Toontrack Superior 2.0 (The Metal Foundry SDX) for drums.
Have recorded all guitars with a close-mic'd SM57 (top right cone of Orange cab) and placed an SE2200A about 6ft away.
