New to recording, please help with thrash metal demo
Hey guys I'm pretty new to recording drums, and I plan on recording a 4 or 5 song demo with my band. We've already made a few recordings, with a cheap radioshack mic (haha), these can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/perpetratorthrash

Anything better for metal?
Looking to upgrade the pickups in my Jackson RR. Have heard for years that for metal there is nothing better or simpler than EMG 81-85. I am looking for the Killswitch Engage tone, dirty and chunky but distinguished. I definitely want passive, I don't like a lot of extra wiring/features. I like the rhythms to be chunky and downright heavy, but won't feedback when you cut the note off.

Metal Vocals in The Studio
I've been recording a lot of metal "screamers" in the studio, and I find myself just guessing on EQ levels, and mic placement, and filters, etc.
Can anyone give me a quick rundown on some tips/tricks to recording this?
What frequencies do the "screams" exist at?
Mic suggestion for these vocals?

Metallica drum sound
How does one replicate the Metallica drum sound on "Enter Sandman"?
Specifically the kick and snare, how can you use compression, gating, reverb and Eq to even come close to it?
Thanks in advance.

big guitar sounds like metallica
Metallica was king of big guitar sounds. They were the first to make it sound REALLY BIG! They used like 8 marshall 4x12, with various mics and a huge tent cover to enclose the sound. The guitar sound you hear on the black album is clean, crisp and dint require a whole lot of dubbing.
